I am very excited to finally show you a sneak preview of the next version of
Case Manager. The screen shot below shows the revamped case selector which
provides much greater flexibility. If you currently have a lot of cases in your
case list you will be amazed how much faster this new case selector is at
locating a specific case.
This example illustrates how you can:
Use any column to group cases (by Category in this example).
Quickly filter rows by typing in the filter box (just below the column
heading). I have typed the letter j here to instantly filter the list to only
those clients starting with j.
There are many other productivity improvements in the Case Selector but I
want to keep this short, so on with the newsletter...
Chris and I will be at the ARPA Conference in Adelaide in April. We would
love for you to come and see us! We will have the beta of Version 3.0 for
you to experience. While we are at the ARPA Conference I will be meeting
with the executive to discuss ways that Chameleon Software can work together
with the National and State branches.
Karyn is our new Client Support officer. She will be taking over front line
support from Chris Jacob and will provide the same commitment to ensuring your
satisfaction. Chris will be there to help out with the more complex support
issues. He has been programming our reports module for Version 3.0 and will be
next doing the user documentation.
The current official release date for version 3 is June 2006, and we plan to
conduct beta testing in April and May. To help you get ready we are going to
provide regular tips on how to assist in getting your data ready for conversion
to the new database format. The first tip is on Addresses:
Changes to Address data in Version 3
In Case Manager Version 2 all
address details are stored in a single (multi-line) text field. In Version 3 we
will introduce a structured address format allowing you to (optionally) store the
Street, Suburb, State, Postal Code and Country in separate fields. These changes
will improve the quality of the data, speed up data entry, and allow you to
produce reports on this demographic information.
The version 3 database
upgrade program will attempt to translate all unstructured addresses into the
new structured format. Obviously this will not be possible where the information
is invalid, incomplete, or does not follow an expected format. To improve the
chances of your addresses translating correctly, you should ensure all people
who enter data into the current version of Case Manager follow the following
format recommendations:
If specifying a Country, add it on a line by itself at the very end. You
should only do this for addresses outside your country of operation.
The last line (excluding the optional country line) should specify the
Suburb, State & Post Code separated by spaces. Countries without a state or
region (e.g. New Zealand) will simply include the Suburb & Post Code.
Anything above the suburb line (the street lines) is not considered
structured so it doesn't really matter what you put there.
These address will convert correctly:
PO Box 111
Sydney NSW 2000
3 Shortland St
Auckland 1001
New Zealand
Planning Department
2nd Flr, 1/256 George Street
Brisbane QLD 4000
These common variants will not:
PO Box 111
Sydney
NSW 2000
PO Box 111
Sydney 2000
PO Box 111
Sydney NSW
2000
